Cather's Circles: Correspondence and Connections

A Symposium Celebrating the Roscoe and Meta Cather Collection at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lincoln, Nebraska, June 4, 2008

- symposium registration form

On June 4, 2008, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Libraries and the Willa Cather Project, UNL Department of English, is hosting a symposium to celebrate the Roscoe and Meta Cather Collection, the core of which is nearly 400 letters Willa Cather wrote to her brother Roscoe, his wife and daughters, and other members of the family. The symposium will feature two keynotes by Cather biographers and scholars Janis P. Stout and Sharon O'Brien. Janis P. Stout, Professor of English Emerita, Texas A&M University, is author of many books on Cather and American literary history, including Willa Cather: The Writer and Her World and, most recently, Picturing a Different West : Vision, Illustration, and the Tradition of Austin and Cather. Sharon O'Brien, Professor of English, Dickinson College, is the author of Willa Cather: The Emerging Voice and the editor of the new Norton Critical Edition of Cather's O Pioneers!

The event features three paper sessions in addition to the two keynotes, an evening celebration and reception, and exhibits of materials from the Roscoe and Meta Cather Collection in Archives and Special Collections, UNL Libraries. All events are to be held on the UNL city campus.

The symposium is open to the public at $15/person, which includes a lunch, breaks, and an evening reception. Pre-registration is requested. Click here for a registration form.
