John March (749) concludes that the particular magazine that Douglass Burnham's Sunday School teacher ("The Treasure of Far Island") read was the Sunday School Teacher's Quarterly. Such Sunday School "papers" (for teachers and pupils) were popular in the late 19th century and the first half or more of the 20th century. Most were based on the International Sunday School Lessons, which were used throughout the country in many Protestant churches.
