TRAVEL & TRANSPORT

The first part of the seminar is in Red Cloud (June 18-21).  Participants are responsible for making travel arrangements to either:

1) drive directly/carpool to Red Cloud on their own, or,
2) the UNL campus to travel by chartered bus to Red Cloud. 

The following is Saturday’s schedule in Red Cloud, which should aid in making your plans:

We encourage participants to rent vehicles and carpool if possible, but if you would like to take the bus, two buses will depart from the UNL campus to Red Cloud, one at 10:00am and one at 2:30pm on Saturday, June 18th.  You are responsible for making arrangements to be at the bus pick up on the UNL campus.  Please reserve a spot on the bus and indicate the morning or afternoon bus by contacting Beth Burke at eburke3@unl.edu.   Cost: $20 each way.  A return trip to Lincoln will leave Red Cloud late morning on Tuesday, June 21 and drop off participants at the UNL campus for the second part of the seminar. 

Chartered Bus: $20 each way.

Airport and shuttle information:The closest major airports are Lincoln www.lincolnairport.com and Omaha (60 mi. from Lincoln) www.eppleyairfield.com.  Lincoln is 150 miles from Red Cloud (3-hour drive) and rental vehicles are available at both the Lincoln and Omaha airports. 

OmaLink Shuttle 1-877-473-5465:  Leaves seven times a day, every day, from Omaha and travels to Lincoln.  Reservations required by calling the company directly, appr. $50 round trip, drop-off and pickup locations include the UNL campus. 

Lincoln taxicabs: Capital Cab 1-402-477-6074 and Husker Cab 1-402-477-4111.


MEALS

$90 - meals for six days, which includes: lunches and dinners in Red Cloud and all breakfasts, lunches, and dinners in Lincoln.  Participants are on their own for all meals Tuesday, June 21 and Saturday, June 25 after breakfast.  Please note:  if you stay at Green Acres Motel in Red Cloud, breakfast is not included.  

The Red Cloud performance of "An Adaptation of 'A Singer’s Romance,'" preceded by a formal Victorian dinner, is included in the registration price. 


HOUSING

Red Cloud—nights of June 18, 19, and 20:People in the community of Red Cloud have graciously volunteered to provide their homes as accommodations for the Seminar.  You may choose among the local motel (Green Acres Motel), the local bed & breakfast (Cather’s Retreat), or private homes, which will serve as “bed & breakfast” accommodations.  Please contact Jan or Nancy at the WCPM (wcpm@gpcom.net or 402-746-2653) to make ALL housing arrangements (including payment) for the Red Cloud portion of the seminar.  Please do not contact the motel or bed & breakfasts directly.   If you would like to arrive in Red Cloud a day or two before the conference, please make arrangements with Jan or Nancy at the WCPM.

Please be advised that because of the limited housing choices in Red Cloud, participants will need to provide at least 2 or 3 preferences so that assignments can be sorted to meet all needs.  The WCPM will do its best to honor your first choice.

 

Lincoln - nights of June 21, 22, 23, and 24We will be staying in two dorms on the campus of UNL; the Kauffman Center and Neihardt Hall.  The Kauffman Center has suites where two or three bedrooms share a bathroom, living area, and kitchen.  Neihardt dorm is a traditional dorm room with shared bathrooms in the hallway.  All dorms are air-conditioned.  Please go to http://www.unl.edu/housing/halls/cpn.htm to learn more. Please make all housing arrangements for Lincoln with Beth Burke, Cather Project (eburke3@unl.edu), and indicate whether you would like a single, double, or triple room.  $32/night - single; $18/night – double, triple.
