Sorry to have left town without seeing her and Mrs. [Franz?] Boas. Sinclair Lewis said such nice things in his Toronto lecture that she had to beg people to leave her alone so she could work. Glad to hear from her and get her correct address. Glad her health holds up. Please pass along greetings to Mrs. [Franz?] Boas. Please have Mrs. Burden [storekeeper] pack up a box of Christmas groceries for Mrs. Lambrecht and purchase some good coffee for Annie Pavelka. Has sent Annie a check and some discarded clothes. Is sending a check to [name blocked out]. But the spectacle of poverty may be even harsher in the city.   Willie   [Stout #1205]

To Carrie Miner SherwoodJuly 3, [1934?]WCPM

Please pick out some good canned fruit for Mrs. Lambrecht's birthday. It's terribly hot in New York, but has stayed in town to finish Lucy Gayheart. To be serialized in Woman's Home Companion starting in April 1935, preceding book publication. Magazine's offer was too good to refuse. Sorry they are having such a drought. Expects to leave for Grand Manan mid-month.   Willie   [Stout #1228]
