NUMBER FIVE BANK STREET3 Dear Mrs. Seibel1:

I got back from Boston4 last night for the opening of a friend’s5 new play6 at the “Empire”, and on Friday I leave for the West to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with my mother7 and father8. I find your letter this morning and am so sorry to miss you. I simply can’t find a spare minute between now the hour I take the train on Friday. I wonder where I shall find the energy to get through with all I have to do before then. I’ve given up a hundred things to get in this trip home9, and I must give up seeing you, too. Mother and father have set their hearts on it.

I’d like so much to talk to you about Mr. Seibel’s10 splendid article11 one “One of Ours”12. I was delighted by it—who wouldn’t be? Greeting and Goodbye, for this time.

Faithfully yours Willa Cather
