Surely I have never before seen such dark, rich purple-velvet violets as
these, dear brother1. They came on
Christmas eve, four great bunches of them. I had them on my breakfast tray
of Christmas morning, and tonight they are on my writing table, still a joy
to me. It is a deep comfort to me that you remember me so faithfully. Very
few greetings from anyone or anywhere could come so clase close to my heart.
Soon I shall write you about the man4 who wrote "Son of the Smoky Seas."5 Miss Bloom6 is on vacation.
At last the intermittant nausea7 which hung over me for four months has gone. About two weeks ago it disappeared— Vanished. Oh it is good to like food again, and to eat without fear.
