I didn't get here until October 31st, and was pretty well worn out. So much personal correspondence had to be gone through with the McClung family. Jan4 had not cabled them5! When his letter finally reached her6 sister7 letters from to all the relatives began to pour in on me. I was then already packed for Jaffrey2, but I RECEIVED

had to stay on at home8 and get off all those letters to her friends and family. Jan had done none of that dreary work. I attended to it—it was the last thing I could do for her.
