Greenslet, Ferris  (1875–1959) Associate editor for the Atlantic Monthly, 1902– 7, and then, for thirty-five years, literary editor at Houghton Mifflin, where he championed Cather's early novels. His own books included Joseph Glanville, a Study in English Thought and Literature in the 17th Century, Walter Pater, The Life of James Russell Lowell, The Life of Thomas Bailey Aldrich, The Lowells and Their Seven Worlds, and Under the Bridge, a memoir of his life in publishing. He edited the collected lyrics of Louise Imogen Guiney.
