To Zoë Akins,  Tuesday [Nov. 21, 1922?] Huntington

Play is wonderful and a fine production. Jobyna wonderful in the lead role—as powerful as a fine car. Great looking, too. Didn't go to her house after the play because has been ill and is in bed as she writes.   Willa   [Stout #647]

Sorry to have missed her; certainly did not mind visit by Jobyna. Has enjoyed time in New Mexico. Is going to Red Cloud now because of her mother's health. Glad the two plays are working out well.   W. S. C.   [Stout #841]

Glad to read good news about the play. Congratulations to her and to Jobyna.   [Stout #1289]

Thanks for writing to her about Jobyna's death. Wishes they had lived in an earlier time, when people stayed put and didn't lose track of their friends. Never sees friends in Nebraska, can only send a few comforts to try to help them through the Depression and heat waves and drought. Glad Jobyna did not go all to pieces with alcohol before she died. Why do people overdrink, when a little wine in moderation is so good?   Willa   [Stout #1324]
