Call for Papers on Willa Cather:
American Literature Association 2012, May 24-27, San Francisco, CA

In 2012 the Cather Foundation will sponsor two panels of papers on Cather and her work. We encourage proposals that expand on and complicate Cather's relations to questions of history, philosophy, gender, language—which is to say that topics and approaches are open. We simply seek to identify the best and most provocative new scholarship in the field.

Please send 300-500 word proposals for 20-minute papers electronically to John Swift, Department of English, Occidental College (swiftj@oxy.edu) by Monday, January 2, 2011. Inquiries and suggestions prior to that date will be welcome.

The American Literature Association's 23rd annual conference will meet at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco in Embarcadero Center on May 24-27, 2012 (Thursday through Sunday of Memorial Day weekend). For further information concerning the conference, please consult the ALA website at www.americanliterature.org or contact the conference director, Professor Alfred Bendixen of Texas A & M University at abendixen@tamu.edu with specific questions.
