My Darling Carrie1;

You could never make me cross with you. In regard to contribution3 I am sure you did the right thing. I only wanted to help, and you say that my name on the list encouraged other people to give, so I am glad you put it there.

Today I was to have received an honorary degree4 from the University of Pennsylvania. My doctor5 wrote them I could not come.

Tomorrow I go by automobile to my old resting place in Jaffrey, New Hampshire6. Edith7 is going along to keep an eye on me—and to keep everyone else in the world away from me!

I am so sad that I shall be away from here2 when Mary8 comes.

Virginia's9 address is now 350 East 77th street.

Lovingly to you and Mary Willie
