My Dear Bess1

I was so glad to get your nice long letter about the baby5, and now I feel quite as if I knew her. She must have had a royal Christmas. Yes, I had a very thrilling interesting time in New York6, but I did not get time to see Mr. Wiener7 and Annie8 and was sorry not to do so. I really wanted to have a few hours with them, but during the week I was there I had scarcely a moment to myself. I would like to show you the new dress I got for the dinner9, I think it is very pretty.

Auntie Gore10 writes me that Douglass Clark11 now has nine children. She says Perry's12 children13 are living in Winchester14, wherh where Walter15 is working in a bank. Howard Gore16's wife17 is in Switzerland18 this winter, where Sidney19 is at school. I don't think Auntie likes her being away very well.

I think it was pretty fine of Alec Bentley20 to go to see his father21. Does Mrs. Governor Garber22 still live in Red Cloud4, or has she gone away? My love to all of you, and especially to the baby. Remember me to Mollie23 when you see her. Write to me when you can and tell Jess3 to write. Are you quite well yourself this winter, and what do you hear from Auntie Sister24?

Lovingly always Willie.

Tell Jess I am wearing the garters and they look very festive on my black stockings. I had two pairs of black silk stockings given me for Christmas, a beautiful leather bag, a carbuncle scarf pin, a hand embroidered shirt waist, and several books.
