Love and so many good wishes to the two dear ones who are now making the old house6 alive again. Once when you were a little girl, Helen Louise4 and were leaving to go back to Kearney7 after staying with us, as you ra ran down the front stairs you called out joyfully, "Goodbye, dear house!" You knew you were coming back, so you were not sad. I can so well remember your young, happy voice, with love for the old house in it. This time, when you leave for California8, please say that again: "Goodbye, dear house."

Please remember me to your grandparents Garber9 and tell them I am glad you can be with them.

I am detained here2 much later than usual, but we10 hope to get away in ten days from now. We are not going11 to Grand Manan12 this year.

Lovingly to you and Elsie3 Willie
