My Dear Boy1

I've no time to write, but I must thank you for your kind and loving letter. I could help a lot more if all those farm loans in Nebraska5 hadn't turned out so badly.

I could never "favor" one twin above the other6 (who could?) but I've always known Margaret7 would catch up. I've told Elsie8 and Edith9 so, many times. She is the more reflective of the two, and a little more tender-hearted. Those qualities always hold one back for awhile, but they come into their own, God bless her.

Our elevator boys are paid more than union rates and they are on their job10, but they are frightened, and come and go with a guard. They are afraid of being beaten up. We are eight flights up and there are no stairs except the back stairs.

Now the real point of writing to you tonight is to beg you to go away for a rest. Shingles come from nerves, and I think you've been pegging away to hard. Go south in your car for a little.

Lovingly W
