My Dear Margaret;1

Surely, my child. Send me your father-in-law's5 name and I will autograph one of the new illustrated6 edition7 out to him, and have it mailed to you, thus saving your pennies.

Oh such sad news from our dear Island8! Dear Doctor Macaulay9 (who was never so handsome and gay as this summer) fell dead of a heart attack two weeks ago. The next night faithful Willie's10 house burned down—no insurance of course. We cottagers are each sending him fifty dollars to have a new one built. He takes care of his old mother11 and "big Arthur", the kindly half-witted brother12, you know.

Hastily, my dear, but lovingly,W.S.C.
Yehudi13 telegraphed me the night the baby was born:

"Nola14 glorious. Zamira15 superb infant

love Yehudi"

Thank you for the picture, dear, of the "superb infant"!
