8 Dear Mr. Knopf1:

No, Dorothy Canfield3 did not send her review4 to me. She wrote me from Southampton5, on her way over, that the review was done, that she had a Corona6 with her and would type it off within a few days—at their first hotel stop—and would mail it at once to Dr. Smyth7.

If he has not received it yet, please telephone the situation to Harcourt8, get Dorothy's address in Rome9 and cable her at once asking her to reply at our expense and let us know if she mailed it, and whether she can send a copy in case the original is lost.

Dr. Smyth may have it by this time; but if not, and if the original is lost, a copy might still be got here in time if Dorothy is cabled to in Rome at once. Please try to get it if possible, I believe it will count for a great deal.

I am sorry Canby10 would not let Lewis11 do the review12 for the Post13. Do you know who is to do it? Canby seems a little sore about something, I think.

I'm sure Lewis will do a good review14 for some paper, if you can get a copy15 to him via Harcourt. Perhaps you could place his review if you take it up with him by letter.

The lost "April Twilights"16 proofs have not come yet. This is a fine place to work. I am putting through the story17 I began last winter, and hope the proofs will be along soon.

Faithfully Willa Cather
