⬩W⬩S⬩C⬩ My Dear Mrs. Franklin1;

I have just received a letter which calls me to Portland, Maine4, on Thursday, so that I shall have to miss the pleasure of seeing you on Friday. If I return before you leave town for the summer I shall take the liberty of telephoning you to see whether you will give me one more chance. I have been away from New York2 so much this winter that I have lost touch with people in a most discouraging manner.

Very sincerely yours Willa Sibert Cather
