Such a lovely place3! My brother4 and I have spent two days here. Behind the church the priest5 has wonderful gardens, full of parrots6 and snow-white doves.

Isleta is the largest of the Rio Grande pueblos, numbering over one thousand inhabitants. It is pleasantly located on the west bank of the Rio Grande, about thirteen mils south of Albuquerque. The houses and streets of the village are well-kept and clean; the houses are a single story high, and as a consequence the pueblo covers a large area. THIS SPACE MAY BE USED FOR MESSAGE. THIS SPACE FOR THE ADDRESS. Dear Elsie1:

Oh I did hope you would never run across that book7 of bum verse! It seemed quite probable that you never would. I've bought up and sunk8 in a "tarn" all the copies I could get. I thought it entirely dead. I really was very young and had never been — anywhere. But, even for a Cliff Dweller9, it was pretty bad. I seem to remember one10 that began "Stark as a Burne-Jones11 vision of despair!" I hope you appreciated that fully! But please don't ever try to buy one. If you dislike me enough to want one, I'd rather give it you than have you pay out money to scorn me.
