Arrived late yesterday, two days late—terribly rough passage of 17 1/2 days! Badly sprained ankle. So sorry I cannot oblige3 on the 17th, but any public appearance so soon as that is out of the question. I can see you1 here2 at Bank street4 however.

Hastily W. S. C.

Tell me when and where to telephone you when you arrive.
