NUMBER FIVE BANK STREET3 Dearest Zoë1:

One line to wish you a joyful crossing, and to tell you again that seeing so much of you has been one of the few bright things in this winter. Somehow, I get tremendous fun—yes, and real friendly satisfaction in seeing you get what you want, and get on so tremendously well.

You may think I over-stress this fact, but I'm usually not interested in seeing people have their fling—but somehow it pleases me as much in you as if I were having a fling myself. I love to see the world go well with you and to see you getting so much fun out of things and people. Oh what a glorious time you'll have in France4! I wish I could be there to see it.

Thank you for everything, and bon voyage.

Affectionately Willa
