Cather
Dear Mrs. Knopf1:

I have not called you up4 because I know how busy you were, but I must send you a word of goodbye and wish you a restful voyage. I can’t tell you how happy I am that “Claude”5 has gone so well and over my relations with your house generally. I feel confident that we can do work together that will be a credit to us both. Your reception6 of the last little story7 gave me great encouragement. I like the kind of work you and Mr. Knopf8 do, and you seem to like the kind I do. So I don’t see why things should not go well with us.

Please tell the Hambourgs9 that I may sail before the first of April. I don’t like the New York2 climate very well this winter!

My warmest feelings of friendship and comradeship go with you!

Yours Willa Cather

I’ve had two remarkable evenings with Madame Tcheckov10. She’s tremendously intelligent about writing.
