Dear Mrs. Whicher1:

I’m delighted that you are going to have the year abroad you were wishing for when I saw you in Jaffrey6, but I’m more than disappointed that our schedules won’t permit us to see each other. I will be here until September 2nd, will probably spend several days at Dijon7 on the way back to Paris3, and I sail for Quebec8 September 20. I’ve been in Provençe9 and Savoie10 ever since the latter part of July, and have seen a few very old and dear friends. And now I wish I were going to see you and the boys11. I may see Mr. Whicher12 this fall, for I shall probably be in Jaffrey through October. I hope you’ll have a wonderful year, all of you!

With love and good wishes Willa Cather
