⬩W⬩S⬩C⬩ My Dear Irene1;

I have to be in Ann Arbor, Mich.4 on June 16 to receive an honorary degree5 from the University. I will leave there on the morning of the 17th, getting into Chicago3 at 2 in the afternoon by the Michigan Central. I am making reservations on the Burlington for Wednesday afternoon, hoping to spend Tuesday night with you if you are at home. If it won't be convenient, let me know. Please send me a wire to Five Bank street6 on receipt of this, as if I don't stay with you I will change reservations and go straight through.

Yours with much love Willie
