What about “My Mortal Enemy”3is it out4? I keep getting letters from people who say they can’t find it in book shops. I hope it is out. My books always are slow in getting started. I wish it could have come out early in September. Was it Adler5’s fault it didn’t? By this time last year “The Professor”6 had done very handsomely, you remember,. and had Please drop me a line7 about it, as I shan’t be in New York8 before November fourth or fifth. I

Thank you for the books. I was awfully glad to get them, but “The Voyage Out”9 did not come—was the office not able to get it, I wonder?

We are having glorious Indian summer weather. I stay up on the mountain all day and only come home10 to sleep.
