Alas3, I have no telephone number! Furthermore, I have no house. Miss Lewis4 and I were finally forced to uproot ourselves from 5 Bank Street5 because the subway is building a station almost under the very house where we lived. The excavations tormented us all last winter, and they will continue for at least two years more. At present all my goods are in storage, and I am staying for a few weeks at Hotel Grosvenor6, 35 Fifth Ave. I have been in Jaffrey, N.H.7 since the 8th of September. If you are in town2 within the next ten days, you can reach me here.
I am very much pleased by the statement8 that accompanied your letter. I am glad there is still vitality in those early books9. By the way, have you read the "Archbishop"10, and would you like a copy?Faithfully yours, Willa Cather
