⬩W⬩S⬩C⬩ Dear Mrs. Whicher1;

I am so sorry to have missed you. I’ve been down at Atlantic City5 trying to get rid of a nasty bronchitis I picked up early in March, and I got back to town2 only today. I’ve wanted to write you ever since Christmas, when I had such a friendly word from you. But I am usually about six months behind in the letters I want to write. After four years in hotels and trans-continental trains, I’ve been settling an apartment this winter and I’ve had my hands full, I assure you! I confide my address, as a mark of confidence and affection! Only about three people know it.

Affectionately always Willa Cather
