passage written by Cather on separate enclosure. | written text |
You were a good girl to send the clippings3—I might not have seen them, and you always say4 such nice things when you write about me—really nicer than anyone else says. Perhaps because they are a little more delicate. Anyhow, an ounce of real feeling is worth more than a truck load of adjectives.
I was feeling rather ill when you were here, but I'm all right now. I had dinner with Blanche5 and Alfred6 in their apartment last night. They were both at their best and Blanche looked quite lovely. I am really very fond of them,—personally.
My love, dear Fanny, and a Happy Christmas to you.
Willa Cather
