⬩W⬩S⬩C⬩ Dear Mr. Clemens1:

It gave me great pleasure to receive the Mark Twain medal which you so kindly sent me some weeks ago. I was out of town2 when it arrived, but found it awaiting me on my return. I have also to thank you for the account of the Mark Twain dinner which you sent me, and for your kind and inspiriting personal letter. The next time I go through St. Louis3, I shall send you a telegram, and perhaps we can meet in that City and become better acquainted.

Very cordially yours, Willa Cather
