⬩W⬩S⬩C⬩ My Dear Fanny1

When I had not heard from you, or about you, for so long, I wondered if there might be something of this kind in prospect. Now a card from your mother4 announces your marriage. I don't know anything about Mr. Bokum5—except that he was born under a lucky star, since he got Fanny. Please write me something about him, and about your plans, and give me your house address—which I don't seem to have. As for my good wishes to you, I'm not expert enough enough with the pen to write them, I'll wait to give them to you in person. Surely you'll be coming to New York2 soon? You know, without my telling you, that I want everything good in this world for you. I will have to send this scratch to the Tribune6 office, and God knows who will open it!

Don't read my new story7 in the Woman's Home Companion8, Fanny. It ought to be read at one sitting, and the book version will be greatly improved in text. I've just finished the page proofs. The book will be out Sept. 1st or August 15th.

I implore you to write me a note to tell me about your sudden behaviour, and where you now are!

Devotedly Willa Cather
