I am giving myself the pleasure of sending you a little book of essays3, not because I think well of the book, but because of one article about friendships in pre-war Boston4 which you might find interesting: "148 Charles Street,"5 on page 52.
At this season of the year I like to remember and think of those old things before 1914, when the world, on both sides of the Atlantic6, was such a delightful place to live in that one was always tormented by indecision as to which of the many delightful places on should spend a passport-less summer.
