⬩W⬩S⬩C⬩ My dear Mrs. Aley1:

I am just leaving for Canada3, but before I go I want to acknowledge your card and to tell you that I am delighted to hear from you after such a long silence. The last time we met, you may remember, was in Altman's4, when you were hurrying for a train and I was shopping for an immediate departure for California5, where my mother6 was ill for so long.

Very cordially yours, Willa Cather
