⬩W⬩S⬩C⬩ My dear Otte1:

Happy New Year.! It is awfully nice of you to remember me. But won’t you, just for once, write your address a little more clearly? You used to write a very clear hand - I would recognize it anywhere - but you have done something to it and made it as untranslatable as possible. That seems to be a fad among lawyers and successful business men. Your signature I recognize with pleasure, and I am awfully glad to see it wherever and whenever. It is nice of you to remember the day3 which we celebrate for me and for Pearl Harbor4.

Always your friend, Willa Cather
