⬩W⬩S⬩C⬩ My very dear Yaltah1:

What a surprise and pleasure to have a letter from you, with such a charming picture of you and Lionel3! Yes, we did have quite wonderful times in those long ago days when you lived at the Ansonia. Surely I'll be glad to send you an autographed photograph as soon as my hand4 is strong enough to autograph one decently. It doesn't improve as it should, and this is very discouraging - after I simply devoted eight months of my life to getting it cured three years ago. It seems outrageous that merely one tendon, in one thumb, should make almost everything one loves to do impossible. I am so glad to know that you are keeping up your music and, from what your mother5 wrote me, playing concerts long enough and big enough for a young giant.

Very affectionately yours, "Aunt Willa"

P.S. Why, if Lionel is now seventeen months old, he isn't a baby any longer, but a Boy!
