⬩W⬩S⬩C⬩ My Dear Mrs. Marble1:

I have just returned from Canada3 and find your letter awaiting me in a vast accumulation of mail held by the post office. I gave up my old apartment on Bank street4 some months ago and put all my things in storage. For the present I have no New York2 address except my publisher’s5. I am sorry that I missed the pleasure of meeting you, and must ask you to pardon my seeming rudeness in not replying to your letter. I am leaving for Arizona6 tomorrow7 and will be in the Southwest all winter.

Very sincerely yours Willa Cather
