passage written by Cather on separate enclosure. | written text |
We miss our little girl5 dread–ful–ly6! Mother7 made father8 wrap the little swing up around the limb because it made her so sad. The circus was a splendid show with lots of animals. I was sick and could not go, but all the others, big and little, went and brought home great tales. We all mourned that Virginia missed it.
The Hastings occulist told Jess9 that M.V.10 must not wear glasses and never should have worn them! Jess bought her first ones of a travelling "oculist" who naturally wanted to sell glasses.
The fine weather holds and we wish that you could all be here. The Argus11 will have informed you of the Billy Bense12 sensation.
Give my heartiest love to Meta13 and a hug to Virginia. We are surely lonesome for that child.
