Dear Roscoe1;

I have just opened bunch of Red Cloud4 papers. I am afraid this is very serious5. I have just written to Mr. Crowell6 and I know you will want to do so.

I have been cleaning house (with one little colored girl to help me) for five consecutive days.

Hastily W.

Dated Sept. 1st
