My Dear Virginia1;

Just opened a letter from Aunt Elsie4 telling me you got the Mary Lanning scholarship5. I'm delighted, and ever so proud of you! I'm sure that will make all your vacation very pleasant. Both Miss Lewis6 and I have had very bad colds, as it's a cold rainy season in Paris, but we have managed to enjoy a great many things for all that. This city is quite as lovely in rain as in sunshine. Tell the twins7 I often remember our lovely day8 at Parco9, and I wish they were here to climb about over the towers of Notre Dame with me. I'm just beginning to go out again after a week in bed. Isabelle10 has spent many afternoons with me, and she always loves to hear about all my nieces.

With love and congratulations Willa Cather
