The envelope will give you my address. I came down here2 rather suddenly, September 12th, and shall be here until the first of October. I have telegraphed the Chicago Woman’s Club4 that I will lunch with them October 20th, but that will end the medal chapter. I hear that Omaha5 and Detroit6 are considering a similar persecution, but I surely won’t go about collecting medals!
In case you want to talk to me about anything important, telegraph me an hour when you will be in the office and I can telephone you from here. If you have a new book that’s interesting, please send it along. I expect you didn’t have time to read Proust10 this summer — and one can’t get much out of him unless one has a feeling of plenty of time ahead of one. Please drop me a line and tell me how you both are, and how things are going with you.Faithfully Willa Cather
