Personal E Dear Alfred1;

The Collis3 books4 are a Godsend, really! I was just beginning to read Salammbô5 for the thirteenth time, in sheer desperation! Just once in awhile one has to read an intelligent writer. It’s only natural.

I, too, have been terribly driven. But when you are free I’ll be mighty glad to see you.

Yours Willa Cather 1945 MAR 16 AM 9 08
