CUNARD R.M.S. "BERENGARIA."5 My Dear Louise1;

I have worn your stunning green scarf all the way across! I love the colors in it, and it seems to have been made for my particular green coat. I am pleased with it! Most travel-gifts take space and care,—this none.

We've had a lovely crossing—soft, open weather, few people on board and no dreadful ones. Miss Lewis6 has not been ill7 at all, but sits up at tables eating lobster and drinking white Burgundy. My only complaint is that the voyage is too short—always is on these big boats. One does not have time to lose ones self and cease to be for awhile, which is the delight of a long fair-and-foul sea trip.

With love W. S. C.
