passage written by Cather on separate enclosure. | written text |
Such lovely Spring flowers could scarcely help making one feel better. In fact, they so cheered me on Friday evening that yesterday morning I went for a short drive and a little walk in the Park. Then I had a shampoo— 2such a comfort, you know, when you haven't had one for two weeks and have had a temperature. A dear friend from abroad came for dinner—I permitted him to stay only until ten oclock and went went to bed feeling very cheerful. Then the confounded weather went bad in the night and I awoke this morning with the old headache. I worked at my desk, but felt heavy and stupid—perhaps from asperin? Anyhow, I've had all afternoon to lie still and look at my spring flowers, and I do thank you for them.
