How thoughtful in you, my dear Trix1, to send me a lot of real, old fashioned home made candy! I haven't had any for years, and I have enjoyed it so.

I had a wonderful Christmas and many remembrances, but I am late in thanking my friends because I have been terribly busy. A young man came over from London to urge me to do do a rather special piece of work3 for my English publisher,4 and I have been hard at it. Just now my right hand has gone back on me (the hand that was hurt five years ago)5 and I will have to rest it for a week or two.

A Happy New Year to you and yours, dear friend of many years!

Willa
