Dear Mrs. Todd1;

I wish you knew how pleased I was to get your letter. I get such hundreds from strangers, so few from names that mean something to me and call up a pleasant picture before my eyes and a warm feeling in my heart. I miss Ethel4 terribly; it was a gift from Heaven to have her here last winter. I was meant to live in a quiet town, with the same friends always about me. Please let me see you when you come to New York2.

Affectionately always Willa Cather
