Sorry to be so slow answering her letter dated December 27. Was reminded of it by notice of
Charlie Platt's death in the Red Cloud newspaper. Glad she was able to visit him last
summer. Wonders if the Amboy mill is still in operation. Still treasures the pictures of it she
sent four years ago. Has hoped to get back to Red
Cloud but doesn't feel up to the emotional jolt. Has she read John Hersey's
A Bell for Adano? A very
good book, shows integrity.
