Bibliography of Willa Cather's Reading

This bibliography was created by Sharon Hoover and Melissa Ryan. They know that the existing work, though large, is incomplete, and they invite interested scholars, readers, and students to submit new works to the bibliography. To do so, please contact the editor of the Willa Cather Archive at . Any resource that attempts to be comprehensive depends upon a community of scholars, readers, and other interested parties.

    Suckow, Ruth

  1. Author: Suckow, Ruth
    Genre: Novels and stories
Note Relating to Cather: In an October 2 [1931] letter to Dorothy Canfield Fisher, Cather writes, "What you say about Ruth Suckow interests me. I didn't like her early things at all, and I've not read anything of hers for five or six. To be frank, my dear, about her early things there was a creepy, cold nastiness that made my gorge rise. I don't mind the coarseness that comes from over-heat, young energy. But I do hate the other kind like the devil. . . I'll read her new book at your suggestion." Suckow's "new book" was Children and Older People. It was published by Knopf.
